Competition Rules

The “Associazione Flautisti Italiani” organizes the VII International Flute Competition “Severino Gazzelloni” in collaboration with the Foundation “Pescarabruzzo”, the Conservatory “L. D’Annunzio” of Pescara and the “CIDIM”, which will take place from  1 to 5 November 2018 at the Auditorium of Conservatory “L. D’Annunzio”, Pescara. The competition is open to flutists from any country.

Registration deadline:  October 5th, 2018

Application requirements:

  • Registration form with personal data (for individual participation or any member of the chamber music ensemble);
  • Color photo;
  • Photocopy or identity card/passport pdf file;
  • Copy of the receipt of payment;
  • Performance program.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Candidates may participate in more than one category. The candidates registered to a lower ages category, are allowed to register to a different age categories as well.

The First Prize winners of the previous editions, can participate only in a different category other than those he/she won. On arrival participants must register by presenting a valid ID. Candidates may use score edition of their own choice, photocopies will not be allowed. The Jury has the right to stop candidate’s performance at any time. The Jury’s decision is final and cannot be appealed. The organization provides 2 piano accompanists, free of charge, however the candidates may partecipate with their own accompanist. Results are announced after every round.  Concert prizes will be agreed and planned between the winners and the organization after the competition results. The Artistic Direction reserves the right to make changes to this Regulation. Every controversy related to the Competition rules will be within the cognizance of Salerno Place of Jurisdiction.

The competition is divided in 5 categories:

  • Category A: for those born in the years from 2002 onwards;
  • Category B: for those born in the years between 1997 and 2001;
  • Category C: For those born in the years between 1987 and 1996;
  • Category Piccolo: for those born until 1987.

Registration fees:

  • Category A € 80.00
  • Category B € 90.00
  • Category C € 120,00
  • Category Piccolo € 80,00

Winners are required to participate to the closing ceremony and the final concert, who will take place on November 5th in the Auditorium of the Conservatory “ L. D’Annunzio” in Pescara; all the awards must be picked personally. The artistic direction has the right to decide which contestants between the winners will perform at the final concert.

Categories with less than 5 people participating won’t be activated. Eventually, the participants will be immediately warned and the application fees will be reimbursed without any additional cost.

If, for any reason, a contestant won’t take part to the contest, there won’t be any reimbursement. In case of any kind of recordings (pictures, films, tv or web recording) of competition, included the final concert, the partecipantshave not rights on that and won’t receive any reward. In fact, with the registration to the competition they allow the free use from the Associazione Flautisti Italiani of their images and recordings. For the minors the authorization must be given from the parents or any person in their stead. First prize minimum score 97/100, Second prize minimum score 94/100, Third prize minimum score 90/100.
The Jury reserves the right to assign ex aequo prizes and not to assign prizes.
The organization declines all responsibility for any damage to people or property during the Competition. Competition participation implies the full under standing and the acceptance of the present Regulation (legal version in italian).
